GLOVE CUT GUIDE
Searching for Goalkeeper Gloves can be a minefield... with so many different options out there understanding the different types of cut is the first step towards finding the perfect fit!
What is a Glove Cut?
The "cut" of a goalkeeper glove refers to how the palm material is stitched to the backhand. It changes the fit, feel and how much latex makes contact with the ball.
There's no single best cut. It comes down to personal preference, hand shape and how you like your gloves to feel. Below is a breakdown of each cut we offer and which BGK glove uses it.
The seams are stitched inside the glove, creating a tighter, more snug fit around the fingers. This gives you closer contact with the ball, a more natural feel when catching and throwing, and less material bunching. It's the most popular cut among goalkeepers who want precision and responsiveness.
Used in: BGK A-1 MAX and SR PRO
The palm latex wraps around the fingers with no visible external stitching. This maximises the contact area between your hand and the ball, giving you a larger catching surface and strong grip. Roll finger gloves tend to feel slightly looser and more comfortable, making them a popular choice for training and for goalkeepers who prefer a relaxed fit - these gloves also tend to hold in heat meaning warmer hands during Winter games!
Used in: DR PRO
A combination of negative and roll finger cuts, typically with negative stitching on some fingers and roll construction on others. This gives you the close fit of a negative cut with the added contact area of a roll finger. It's a versatile option that suits goalkeepers who want a balance of precision and grip without committing fully to one style.
Used in: A-1 Ultra and BGK PRO
